Seeking care for my loved one in his 70s. Services needed: companionship, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, light housekeeping. Looking for someone with 3+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: nursing experience, support for memory care. Male caregiver preferred. My father in law is pleasant at times but has had a history of seizures and has become more forgetful, sometimes irritated, says comments at times without realizing how it affects someone. His memory comes and goes but loves conversations. He tries to be independent but does need assistance at times. Refuses to use his walker but again isn't fully strong enough to do some things on his own. Preparing meals and remembering the times to take his medication he needs assistance. He would rather be in his room than to be out with the family at times. His moods do change as the night comes. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, strong. I'm looking for someone to prepare meals when he is hungry, to help assist with medication and who can entertain him with conversations... I need a patient person to deal with his forgetfulness and mood changes. Assist at times with cleaning and helping with putting on new diapers for him. It wont b everyday or every weekend that we may need assistance. Maybe every other Saturday n maybe 1 or 2 days during the week so that my husband and I can have our time to go on outings. No longer than 5 to 6 hours on the days needed. My father in law suffered a stroke almost 2 years ago this April. As of June last year he started having seizures off n on. He was almost seizure free for 3 months but just again in November he has had them almost continuously... as the seizures came his memory has started to fade. It's possible we r dealing with dementia but he still has not been fully diagnosed. He recently was discharged from a facility January 14th. He is independent to an extent. During the day he seems to remember more but does forget and needs to b reminded of what day it is and what we have planned for the day and the time. He comes and goes with his memory. At night is wen he becomes more combative.
