Seeking a licensed physical therapist, ideally board certified with experience working with elderly with dementia. Specifically, a PT who can help 94-year-old woman walk with a walker again after falling and breaking hip (hip repair with rod on 10/25). She has been at a rehab center and was making great progress. However, is back in hospital now. Expected release from hospital is Monday, 12/1. It is expected she will go from the current no weight bearing to no restrictions soon. Required: Physical therapist would... 1. Encourage and motivate. No "working through pain." 2. Recognize non-verbal signs of pain and when needs a rest - and ask/encourage a break. 3. Give lots of (authentic) praise and support. 4. Be willing to build a relationship. Time of day flexible, but ideally looking for someone who can come about the same time each day (around 11am) to do exercises and move her safely to the wheelchair. And, ideally, come back later to help transition back in bed.
