Afternoon Family Assistant in the Zilker/Barton Hills Area - $38,220/yr Location: Austin, Texas Start Date: ASAP Children: female 10/2011, male 10/2013 Compensation: $35/hr Schedule: Mon - Thur 2:00pm-6:30pm, Fri 2:00pm-5:00pm (21 hrs) Meet the Family! Both parents have busy professional schedules, but are very hands-on and deeply committed to being present for our kids. Our home is filled with love, laughter, and lots of moving parts-we're looking for someone who can step in with confidence, energy, and empathy." Family in the Zilker/Barton Hills area is seeking an after-school Family Assistant to care for their two children and their household. Candidate will arrive at the house, clean up the main space, prep a snack, and start dinner (depending on the day's schedule) before picking up the children. How You'll Spend the Day: Provide safe, reliable transportation for school pick-ups, sports practices, and extracurricular activities (excellent driving record required) Help manage the kids' routines, including organization of school bags, sports uniforms, and activity prep Light meal and snack preparation Supervise after-school time, including homework check-ins, downtime, or activities Assist with light household tasks related to the children (e.g., tidying up after activities, prepping for next-day needs, wipe down counters, load/unload dishwasher, make sure common areas are picked up) Basic pet assistance as needed Qualities the family is seeking: Confident, capable, and experienced with school-aged children or teens - able to interact, can relate to them, and will build trust Personal or professional experience working with children with ADHD and anxiety - the candidate will offer a calm, supportive presence using ADHD-informed strategies to support transitions, emotional regulation, and daily structure (knowing how to react when teen has big emotions) Patient, flexible, and emotionally intuitive Excellent communicator who can work independently but values collaboration with parents, maintain open, thoughtful communication with parents about schedules, updates, or any concerns Extremely organized Trustworthy, reliable, and punctual A strong problem-solver, with excellent judgment and common sense Active and energetic Proactive, with a positive, can-do attitude Able to maintain boundaries in a kind and assertive manner A dog-lover - the family has a hypoallergenic, friendly Australian labradoodle (~35lb) that the Family Assistant will let out of his kennel and put him back in before leaving the house Both parents work outside of the home, but occasionally work from home on Mondays and/or Fridays. Mom sometimes travels for work.
