Cathedral Hill Montessori School is a family-founded nonprofit private school providing a year-round authentic Montessori education to children from infancy through six years of age. We offer half-day and full-day programs for children 16 months to 5 years, all-day kindergarten, extended childcare, as well as an ongoing Infant Community class. CHMS serves families in St. Paul, MN and the surrounding areas. Nestled in the historic Cathedral Hill District, we boast a peaceful and charming urban location across the street from Boyd Park and attached to a unique mansion home. Since our opening in November 2011, we believe our programs are in high demand for the area. Our mission is to create a safe, beautiful and independent learning environment for young children; to educate families and the community about the Montessori philosophy; to instill in children a lifelong love of learning, respect and service toward humanity, and an appreciation and care of the environment. Montessori education is based upon the life work of Dr. Maria Montessori, who developed and refined a method based upon her scientific observations of children. Key elements that constitute a Montessori environment include mixed-age rooms where children can learn from one another; freedom to choose activities of interest during an uninterrupted block of time; and a well-prepared space that is child-sized and child-focused. The highly-trained and educated staff awaken the child's spirit and imagination; encourage the natural desire for independence in self-care, thought, and action; and help develop kindness, courtesy and self-discipline. A Montessori environment educates and helps develop the whole child by allowing practice with both social and academic skills and the room to nurture emotional and spiritual needs. Dr. Montessori believed that each child can develop into his or her best self: an independent person who is able to act appropriately as a global citizen and contribute to helping create a better world community for all of us. CHMS is a licensed child care program through the MN Department of Human Services and is also associated with the Association Montessori Internationale, an approved accrediting agency, since Spring 2012. We are just one of 13 schools in MN with this high distinction in quality Montessori primary education. Our staff, dedicated Board of Directors, committed parents and joyful children have all come together to build a strong and exciting new community.

I have been licensed in Ramsey County for 20 years. Prior to starting Come and Play Daycare, I taught with the St. Paul Public Schools Early Childhood Family Education program. I taught in both of their infant/toddler programs and preschool programs. I also taught in the SPPS Learning Readiness Program. Prior to that, I taught at Wilder Child Development Center, student taught at Jean Lyle Children's Center and also worked at an infant daycare while in college. In 1991, I graduated from Macalester College with a BA in Psychology and Education. Come and Play is structured to give children the opportunity to use their imagination, creativity and talents. Art, hands on activities, group and story time, sensory activities, gross motor and small manipulative play, dramatic play and open play choices are all offered throughout the day. My philosophy is that children learn through play and their "work" is their play. Children learn from one another and their experiences. Currently I have 2 daycare openings for children in ages of 2 years - 5 years old. Please feel free to contact me with questions. References available upon request. Thanks for considering Come and Play! :) Sandy

Teachers and families develop relationships and share information about their children, creating a warm atmosphere that builds children's self-esteem, curiosity and development. Every week they experience music with a specialist, celebrate Shabbat, learn Jewish values, and develop their large muscle skills through participation in our gym, pool and age-appropriate playgrounds. St. Paul JCC membership is required prior to enrollment in all child care programs. Come explore, learn, create, and grow with the St. Paul JCC. Thank you for considering me to be your nanny. I feel that my role as a nanny or babysitter is that of maintaining diligent watch over the children to ensure their safety and comfort, interacting with children in a way that creates a positive association with learning and looking for every opportunity to encourage learning and development, and supporting the family by assisting with toy organization, the kitchen and the laundry. I grew up with four younger siblings, so I care for children with a loving, responsible older-sister vibe. I genuinely love to hang out with children and listen to them, read books, sing, play catch and soccer outside, go for walks or to the park, have dance parties, draw pictures, and be silly. I have years of experience caring for infants and I bring an awareness of the first years' developmental milestones to my play and interaction with them. I am certified in First Aid, Infant/Child CPR, and SIDS/Abusive Head Trauma; I have had a three-hour training on car seat use and general safety practices for driving with children in the car and I have a perfect driving record. I have a car with a forward- or rear-facing car seat. I am a member of the International Nanny Association, and utilize their recommended practices. I am a member of DONA, a certifying Birth Doula and experienced as a Postpartum Doula as well. I have excellent, current references. Best wishes to you in your search! Elizabeth

Child care
Kids are our passion, and we feel humbled every day for the opportunities we have to learn and grow alongside them. We offer care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers, helping your child to develop new skills and interests. Our stimulating and nurturing environment creates a warm atmosphere that builds your child s self-esteem and curiosity. Our Early Childhood Center (ECC) is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the nation s leading organization of early childhood professionals. The process to earn accreditation is intense, with only eight percent of all US preschool and early childhood programs succeeding. To earn NAEYC Accreditation, our ECC was measured against the ten NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards and more than 400 related criteria. This accreditation speaks to the high quality of the St. Paul JCC s early childhood programs and our dedication to your family.
