Seeking care for my mother in her 70s. Services needed: bathing / dressing, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, mobility assistance, light housekeeping. Looking for someone with 3+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: nursing experience. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be lethargic, reserved. She is a 73-year-old that deals with depression on an ongoing basis. My Dad passed 5 yrs. ago and she's never been the same. She has never pushed herself to overcome the depression or to be independent. She's become complacent to just sit all day and watch TV. She recently moved 5 min. away from me (daughter) and she is depending on me to do everything for her, including fixing her food, walking her Schnauzer, dressing her, etc. She has not desire to socialize anymore either. She has recently been diagnosed with a UTI which is affecting her mind as well. Her thinking, decision making, caring, etc. seems to be absent at this time. I'm looking for someone who is patient, quiet, firm, strong, fond of pets. I would like someone caring but firm. I'm not sure if there is manipulation going on with me, or if this is her "new normal". I would like a caregiver that pushes her and can help me to make her realize she still has many years to live a quality life. She doesn't seem too interested. She says she does but shows no action. My mother recently moved closer to me and has a great place to walk and view of the mountains. She lives on a dead end private drive owned by my daughter's in laws. She would completely be fine with me moving in to do everything for her. That's not possible. I run an at-home business with my daughter, which allows me to have a flexible schedule but doing everything for her is taking a toll on me.
