Respite & In-home Caregiver.
I was my step-father's respite caregiver for five years. He was suffering from Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Prior to moving back to Oregon from Idaho to be his care giver I was the housekeeping supervisor in a retirement/assisted living home. I worked amongst the elderly & grew very fond of them and realized that they could not help their behavior, manner's or at times what they were doing. They were adults going back in time and becoming children all over again. I believe working at the home helped me to see that I wanted to be more than the housekeeping supervisor but someone that could help the elderly in anyway that I could. That's why I took on the job of being my step-father's care giver to put a happy on his face and make what time he had left as easy as possible for him not just him but any elderly that is in need of help.
