Seeking care for my mother in her 70s. Services needed: companionship, meal preparation, medication prompting, help staying physically active, light housekeeping. No prior experience required. Specialized care needs: support for chronic illness, support for memory care. A little more about my mother: she can be anxious, lethargic, pleasant, outgoing, independent. My mother has recently been diagnosed with dementia. She is still in the early stages of the disease, but she has other health concerns. She's had multiple back surgeries, knee replacements, COPD, and congestive heart failure, among other things. She is what I call a worker bee. She's known nothing else in life but working... Hard. But her health is declining, she needs help. Not much, I handle most everything, however I'm dealing with health issues of my own and it's becoming difficult for me to handle by myself. My mom has a very pleasant and fun personality and is a wonderful person to be around. Everyone who meets her loves her. She makes the most easy - going patient and never wants to trouble anyone. I'm looking for someone who is patient, chatty, firm, fond of pets. An ideal caregiver is someone who can make my mother feel comfortable. She never wants to be a burden, so someone that can be very reassuring to her that this situation is alright. She loves to visit with people, so someone that is a great listener would be perfect. It's hard to slow my mother down, but her health has done just that. She is working on a couple of projects, quilts to be exact and would love to have someone to encourage her to work on them and visit in the meantime. Because I'm not home during the day all week, she gets lonely.
