Seeking care for my husband in his 60s. Services needed: bathing / dressing, feeding, meal preparation, medication prompting, mobility assistance, transportation, light housekeeping, errands / shopping. Looking for someone with 5+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, support for chronic illness, support for memory care. A little more about my husband: he can be anxious, grouchy, reserved. My husband is 62 yrs old. He has had a second amputated leg done this past June. He already had an amputated leg done three years ago. He is a chronic diabetic Type I, on insulin, three times a day, and other medications. He is partially blind, hearing impaired and suffers with neuropathy in both hands. All of this causes him to some days become grouchy, irritable and want to be left alone sometimes, especially on Dialysis days (MWF).
All and all he's a sweetheart and great to be around. I'm looking for someone who is patient, firm, strong. She must definitely have to be a person who is very patient, respectful, but able to demand and get Dennis able to be more independent, especially learning to bath, dress, feed and take his meds himself! She must have reliable transportation and be able to take Dennis to appts, or ride with him for transportation that is provided, cook, serve and cleanup Dennis's meals, wash, fold his clothes and linen on his bed and assist Dennis when transferring from one place to another. He will be getting his second prosthetic leg sometime in January, so it has not yet been decided whether he will do therapy inpatient or outpatient at this point. So he definitely will need the appropriate therapy and exercise should he be at home. This will be his greatest challenge!
