Infant and Toddler Teacher

Sandmann Family Day Care is a bilingual childcare program German and English located in Noe Valley, San Francisco. We provide loving and professional care for children between the ages of 15 months and 4 years. Ours is a play-based nurturing environment for young children where they can explore and learn. Children are exposed to a bilingual environment so teachers speak either German or English with the children (one person/one language). Our child to teacher ratio is at the very least 1:4.

Our teachers are committed to making our daycare successful and know that creating meaningful relationships with children, families, and the team plays a crucial role in that success.
When you join our team as a Teacher you will:
Responsible for up to 12 children with ages ranging from 15 months to 4 years, in a team with other teachers/assistants.
Take over activities with a small group of 3 to 4 children at a time.
Responsible for daily operations of daycare activities and maintenance, ensure health of the children and safety of the premises and create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn.
Implement our curriculum in a way that is consistent with our philosophy, our bilingual approach and the unique needs of each child.
Report to lead teacher and license-holder/program director.
Daily duties included but not limited to:
Carry out daily daycare routines such as changing diapers, potty training, feeding/eating support, nap-time support and indoor and outdoor playtime.
Plan and execute small group activities according to monthly themes.
Help prepare healthy meal menus for snack, lunch and supper, make sure meals are prepared in time.
Required Skills and Experience:
A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
Ability to speak, read, and write either German or English (not necessarily both) at a very good level
Ability to build positive relationships with coworkers and create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens
Strong communication and organizational skills, punctuality, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively
Credit points in Early Childhood Education or 2-3 years of equivalent experience, preferably in licensed facilities
Openness toward bilingual educational settings
Knowledge of age-appropriate healthy food preparation
Valid Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
Complete vaccination record
Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a maximum of 30 pounds, and work indoors and outdoors. Ability to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children, including pushing strollers
