am sad to write this negative review, as I really liked Donna as a person but her agency does not provide quality service. I hired Essential care last August to take care of my 86 year old mother part time at our apartment. In the 6 months that I stayed with Essential Care, we went through 3 caregivers. The first caregiver did not show up twice for scheduled shifts with no warning. After the first time, Donna assured me that she talked with the caregiver and it would not happen again. I was reluctant to keep her but trusted Donna. A month later, it happened again. This is unacceptable when you are counting on these services to keep your loved one safe. The second caregiver was wonderful but left within 1.5 months because she got a better job. Each time a caregiver quit, Donna was very slow to confirm she had another caregiver lined up. In fact, most of the time, it took her nearly 2 weeks to find another one. I asked Donna why this was happening and she claimed the shifts were too short to make it worthwhile. So I offed to pay for a 3.5 hour shift instead of 3 hours (their required minimum shift) if she could get me someone good who would stay. So she sent me the 3rd caregiver who told me on HER FIRST DAY that she planned to only stay for one week. I was furious. I always spend my own time to train these caregivers only to find them leaving within a couple of weeks to months. I finally decided to go with another agency and within 2 days of confirming with them, they had a person scheduled to work and so far, all good. If you are going to pay extra to have a caregiver through an agency, they should take the stress off you in terms of having a backup if someone doesn't show up or enough employees to keep someone working for more than a couple of months. Finally, when my frustration hit a peak with the final caregiver giving notice on her first day on the job and Donna not saying if she had someone else to cover, I told Donna I no longer needed their services and canceled the final shift 5 days in advance. And what was Donna's reply? That I had to pay for the final day because I didn't give her 7 days cancellation in advance!!!! Yet she did not provide me with any comfort of having any sort of consistency throughout the 6 months of employment. Save yourself the frustration and go with a larger agency that has good reviews and a larger staff.

Inconsistency is their trademark. If you are wheelchair bound and reply on pick and return from your room to the dining room, do not expect much

I was a little afraid by the whole process of finding someone to look after my mom. They took the time to get to know us, and my mom's personality as well as the care she needed. She handpicked our caregiver, Erika who we have all come to love. Mom is well cared for and Essential care is always quick to respond, and goes above and beyond for my mom but the family too.
