I come from Samoa where I have helped look after my grandparents. Where I come from (in my family in family in particular) loving our elderlies is a pleasure more than it is our duty. We believe we receive blessing through taking care of the people who have once taken care of us. I have long spent years with my grandmother since my grandfather passed. Both of them were my guardians. As I had left home to bring my family here so they can find the opportunities I never had to have better jobs and education, I have left Grandma hopefully only for a few more years before I can go back to visit her. She is still in great hands. I love being around elderly people who have so much wisdom and knowledge to share. I wish to help someone by caring for their parents too. I may not be qualified but I have known qualified people who have abused and disrespected elderlies while in their care. I believe it doesn't take someone qualified to care for an elderly but someone who enjoys and is passionate about being around older people. Older people can be difficult. So it takes someone with patience and love to do this work.
