Experience: 4 Years
I have a couple of years experience in mental healthcare. As a student, I worked two years as live-out au pair for an autistic child, age 13. In 2010, I graduated with a Bachelor degree in Social Work, specialising in Pedagogy. Since then, I have worked for two years as a Psychiatric Social Worker at a mental healthcare in The Netherlands, and since April 2013, as a Social Therapist with psychiatric forensic patients. Because of these jobs, I have experience with most special mental health needs.
I love working with children with special needs. Not a day is the same. I love the way special needs kids work. Every child has a unique way of coaching that works best for it. It is a fun and rewarding challenge to find this particular way of coaching. And when you find this particular way of coaching, you can achieve amazing achievements together. Next to having lots of laughs together. Typically, my way of coaching is from a positive attitude with humour, focusing on the strengths of somebody instead of their weaknesses.
Since November 2014, I live in the London area. I am directly available for work. Preferred as a live out au pair.
