Experience: 2 Years
Having experience as learning support assistant on the additional needs team - I have worked with students aged 16+ with barriers to learning. ie: physical, (Deaf, Blind, Epilepsy) learning (MLD, ASD, GLD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Asperger's) behavioural (ADHD) and emotional (Mental, Depression) difficulties. I help to facilitate access to and from education and work directly with the students and encourage them to stay on task and concentrate. I promote independent learning and help build confidence and self esteem. I assist the individuals in developing study and organisational skills and some personal care. I also have 5 younger siblings, 2, 3, 8, 10 and 12 who when previously living at home I would take care of on a regular basis, to include, playing, feeding, bathing and bedtime. My three year old sister has ASD and my eight year old brother has ADHD so am experienced with both those conditions. I am qualified to Level1 in BSL.
