| Camp Allen, is a unique summer camp based in New Hampshire which accommodates the needs of individuals regardless of their age or ability. I was given the opportunity to spend time with some truly remarkable people and learn more about a number of disabilities. As a result, I now have experience of working with individuals with autism, prader-willi syndrome, down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, multiple sclerosis, seizure disorders, swallowing disorders, and various physical disabilities. My role as Camp Counsellor consisted of tailoring activities to meet each camper’s unique needs and tastes, this often brought with it challenges and developed my ability to solve problems in a creative manner. I also continually encouraged campers to try new activities and required me to stay positive when trailing new approaches or techniques in order to explore the complex dimensions of each individual’s personality. The majority of the time I worked on a one-to-one basis with campers, with the exception of the sessions in which I was assigned the role of cabin leader. In this position, I was accountable for the oversight and management of both campers and staff within the cabin.

I worked with adults that... - had non verbal communication - suffered from blindness - had delayed speech - had Prader-Willi syndrome - had cerebral palsy - had autism - had challenging behavior - had limited capacity - had needs relating to elderly care I am confident working with learning disabilities and or autism and other disabilities due to my experience, education but also my personality! I am fun, bubbly and have experience in acting in a therapeutic role too. I worked as an advocate as well as support worker, and so I know how important the emotional help can be too for adults and children in this situation. I have a car, do not smoke, have a valid DBS, have undergone multiple care related training and have strong references to attest to this.

| I previously worked on social care as an outreach support worker for young people aged 0-18 providing respite for young people with disabilities. My current role is a S.E.N casework officer I support schools with young people who have an education health and care plan. I review & monitor the provisions schools provide for through the plan and ensure educational progress is being made. I work closely with educational psychologists, and health professions to ensure the young person remains in the correct educational setting with the right provisions to meet their needs. I have also previously delivered autism training to the local authority once a month but unfortunately this has been put on hold due to cost cuts. I have an NVQ3 in early years care & education, NVQ3 in care , trained to deliver autism training , BTEC special educational needs NVQ3 management

I have worked in a residential care setting. I cared for adults and children with additional needs such as autism and cerebral palsy. I am a very compassionate person and enjoy assisting others to reach their full potential.

| I currently work within a SEMH school and have done for the past 4years. I have experience of working with children with ADHD, ADD, and Autism. I am passionate in supporting pupils with SEN and making a difference in their lives. I am looking to support parents/careers at a weekend or evening who need help with children with special educational needs to provide respite care. I have 2 children of my own who have a great understanding of children with SEN and my eldest supports pupils within her school with SEN. I am team teach trained which enables me to have a good understanding of strategies to help children when struggling and I am able to build up good trusting relationships. I

| I am a full time carer to my 3 sons whom have atopic eczema and asthma and food allergy’s. (25,19,7) my 7 year old has autism as well as the same above, atopic eczema,asthma and food allergy’s. I have also had some experience working along side my partner when he was working with a special needs adult whom he would bring home at weekends.(bank work).

| I am a full-time student studying Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Manchester. I am self-motivated using my own initiative always as well as being an excellent team player. I am not easily discouraged and see challenges as stepping stones to exploring new grounds. I am enthusiastic in everything I do and I enjoy helping others. I have previous voluntary experiences of working with children of all ages as well as adults. I am flexible and can easily adapt to a variety of settings. I enjoy learning new skills as well as applying and building on those already acquired Between March 2017 and May 2017 I had weekly placements at an inpatient service which provides mental health services to deaf adults. The purpose of the unit is to help the patients achieve a positive self-image of themselves and improve their self-esteem which in turn improves their quality of life. All patients are deaf and use British Sign language as their method of communication. I have mentored an eleven-year-old boy who has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder, spending several weeks in a youth club participating in group activities.

I am currently studying Speech and Language Therapy at university, which involves placement work with a variety of individuals with communication issues. Alongside this I work as a support worker for young people aged 6-21 with a variety of disabilities. Prior to this I worked as a Teaching Assistant at a Specialist Communication School for children aged 11-19 with an Autism Spectrum Condition and Moderate Learning Difficulties, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I have also been a support worker for both verbal and non verbal young people and adults with an ASC and mental health issues. I am a leader at a Beaver Scout group and during my time at university I ran drama workshops to help children and teenagers with ASC with their social skills and so have a wide range of experience of different age groups and the ability to be creative by developing fun and interesting activities. I believe I am compassionate, patient and an excellent communicator with high motivation and a positive attitude. I am passionate about working with both adults and children with special needs to help them gain independence and lifelong skills, and have lots of enthusiasm and a great sense of humour.

| I have been a young carer for my 14 year old brother nearly all my life. He has severe Autism, Phelanmcdermyd syndrome and ADHD. This requires giving him full attention at all times,feeding him,changing his nappies and clothes,keeping him occupied by using rough play and setting up disney films for him as its his routine to watch them all day everyday otherwise he will kick off. I deal with his challenging behaviour,provide his medication,keeping a daily routine and taking him to bed. Most importantly keeping him happy and knowing what he wants as he is non verbal. It’s a life changing but fun experience caring for my brother.
