Experience: 4 Years
I have experience looking after dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, tortoises, various lizards and some small species of snakes. I also have experience of working with farm animals such as horses, cows, pigs, chickens, donkeys, sheep, goats, llama, alpaca and ponies. With all of these animals I have experience in the husbandry of each different species, transportation of theses’ animals, fed and watered animals on a daily basis and learnt basic grooming techniques. I studied an Extended National Diploma in Animal Management at level 3. Within this course we studied lots of different topics such as animal biology, dog training, farm livestock, safe handling of animals, animal health and welfare and animal behaviour. Another part of our course was looking after farm animals and gaining more knowledge of working with livestock. I have also gained an NVQ in Animal Care at level 3 which I completed while working in the University of Liverpool within the Small Animal Teaching Hospital. While working here, I did daily health checks on the animals, took them out for exercise, gave them a clean kennel, and restrained them for blood tests and catheter placing.
