Experience: 10+ Years
Since the age of 15 I attended work experience and then took a city & guilds course level 2 in health and social care. I have worked in various care homes and in 1995 I became a home carer until 1998. Caring for people of all different ages and disabilities and needs, including back problems/Injuries,ms, epilepsy, blindness, dementia and many more. Every person has their own individual needs, I am able to adapt appropriately to give them the best care possible. I am able to use a hoist, change catheter bags, administer first aid, assist with washing, bathing, grooming, dressing/undressing, administering and logging medications, cooking and preparing meals, assisting with feeding/drinking and other personal needs. I can also assist people with shopping, cleaning, escourting and attending appointments, days out, help with admin, phone calls, arranging appointments etc. If a chat is what someone wants then I will take the time to do this, it can be very lonely when people live on their own especially if they are housebound. I feel it isn't just about going in a doing a "job" but it is about making a difference in a person's life, a little easier, happier and comfortable by having a caring, happy and friendly approach.
