| Please be aware that I do not have any official experience caring for the elderly and I am not officially qualified; I understand that this may not be suitable for everyone. My experience: Caring for my grandmother (aged 78) who passed away in 2013. She had extreme mobility issues and was eventually bed bound; she also had mild dementia so I have a lot of experience communicating with and assisting individuals who suffer from dementia. I primarily helped care for my grandmother by running errands (doing the shopping, doing housekeeping, doing washing/ironing, tending to the garden, etc), cooking for her, and providing companionship and assistance for anywhere between one and 12 hours. I also assisted with basic care such as dressing her, helping her to the toilet, helping her up the stairs, helping with phone calls, etc. Caring for my grandfather (aged 84) who is still with us. My grandfather is more dependent but still needs occasional help. I primarily run errands as mentioned above, but my main support for him is companionship. Availability: please note I work full-time. My working hours are Monday-Friday 09:30-17:30.
