My name is Christian and I am a Spanish boy just arrived to Edinburgh.
I´m Christian and I arrived to Edinburgh few days ago. I am an enthusiastic, energetic and motivated 26-year-old boy. I got my degree in Social Work some years ago but because of some unexpected things I haven´t could work too much in this sector and I´m desiring it. I want to learn everything as it is possible, help people to develop their capacities and become more independent.
For 6 months, when I was in Social Services for the Guadalajara Council (Spain), I was who manage the interviews and valuation of disabled and elderly people who needed to be attended at home and I loved going to their homes and talk to them about their problems and stories.
Although it isn´t a professional experience, because no one was paying me, I was looking after my grandmother for 2 years, who was suffering of Alzheimer. It was a difficult experience, because she had an advanced level in her illness, but I learnt a lot and I loved to do this because I got a lot of positive things from this situation.
Another contact I have had with dependent people was when I was swimming teacher and I had to teach a disabled girl who couldn´t move her legs and was very afraid of the water. It was a very beautiful experience and finally I got she could enter into the water and took enough confidence to swim alone.
