I've worked in childcare for the past 12 years, starting off in nurseries and working my way up to room leader. Throughout the last 7 years as a sole charge nanny, I've gained experience and confidence in all aspects of my role. This has included caring for one year old twins up until they started preschool. I still feel like part of their family, regularly visiting and babysitting.
I have worked with other families since, looking after twins and other children (ranging from one child to up to three children), aged between newborn and 7, covering both short and long term child care needs.
I plan and carry out fun activities for each week that are suitable for their developmental stage and that is in their interests. This includes outings, playgroups, parks, art and crafts, swimming, baking and having lots of fun! I cook healthy meals and snacks and encourage good table manners and independence in feeding themselves.
My work often includes helping with homework, having school bags ready and knowing the importance of keeping to a bedtime routine!
I feel rewarded in my role as I watch them grow and reach milestones, from teaching how to jump and dress themselves to counting and recognising letters and numbers.
