Looking for someone who is able to sit by our baby’s bedside in the hospital!

by Saffa • Manchester
Looking for someone who is able to sit with our daughter 1 day a week from 12pm-6pm on a weekday. Our daughter was born prematurely at 26 weeks in May 2023, she has been in hospital since & has never come home due to her chronic lung disease. She is a beautiful, happy & easy baby. She is on hi- flow / low flow oxygen nasal cannulas & fed via an NJ tube. She has a FULL time nurse in the hospital that takes care of her alongside other patients on the ward, her nurse would take care of all of her medical needs, feeds, bloods, medication, oxygen etc. All we require is for someone to sit by her bedside, have cuddles with her, change her nappy & give her a bed bath when they are there. We have two other children at home, her twin sister who has medical needs & a 3 year old. So we are hoping to have this extra help 1 day a week (maybe more at a later date) so that we can spend time as a family, which we haven’t been able to do over the last 10 months. If you are interested in this role, then please message me for further details. Thankyou

FAQs for finding childcare jobs

What is the pay rate for a childcare job in 2024?

As of April 2024, the average childcare job posted on Care.com pays £11.93 per hour at a national level. This rate may vary depending on where you live, how many kids you need to care for, what your previous childcare experience is, any specialised training or certifications you have, and how many hours you will need to work per day or per week.

How can I find a childcare job?

You can filter open positions for all childcare jobs available in your area and compare them by hourly rate, whether the position is part-time or full-time, how many kids you will need to care for and what the ages of the kids are. You then need to create a profile on Care.com that lists the childcare experience you have and what your desired childcare job entails. Besides applying to open jobs, the families can also contact you directly about their needs.

How do I prepare for a childcare job interview?

To help stand out from the other childcare providers a family is interviewing, make sure you have thoroughly reviewed the job description so you can speak directly to the family's needs and anticipate questions they may have. You should arrive a little early and bring extra copies of your resume and the certifications you've earned. Expect the family to ask detailed questions about how you will act in specific situations you will find yourself in while caring for their children. Don't be shy about asking for clarification if you don't understand a question or have questions for the family. It's just as important that you're comfortable working for the family as they are having you work for them.
