My name is Steph, I have been a Disability Support Carer for 8 years with a background in Early Childhood Education.
I have been working alongside families with varying support needs including Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, ABI, CRPS with varying ages from 8years through to 50+
I have enjoyed adventures bushwalking, holidays away, learning to crochet, cups of coffee, beach days, cooking meals, community events, attending appointments, roller skating, picnics, football games & concerts … to name a few things.
I really look forward to making new connections within the community who I can share with and who I can also learn from.

Create a relationship with your family first and foremost and be a support for the person with difficulty but also for the relatives. I am available to take care of the house as well as personal care. I also really like cooking dishes from all over the world, but especially Italian. I have worked not for long as support worker but in this time I have had the chance to learn how to deal with lot of situations and behaviors from the daily life of a person with different kind of disabilities.
I have been working with people who suffer dementia, Alzheimer, ASD, Trisomy 21, depressions, schizophrenia, people who need a wheelchair, among others.
Working in disability is one of the best experiences that I have had in my life, it is really rewarding job, they are happy just for sharing with them.
Actually I’m studying the Certificate III in Individual Support and with all the knowledge that I’m gaining at the academy I firmly believe that I can make a great contribution in the industry with all my skills. I consider myself a reliable person, with common sense, respectful, aware of safety, creative, flexible, aware of care plan, good time manager, compassionate.
