Part Time Dog Sitter
I have had a number of wonderful dogs over the years. My first dog after I became an adult was a miniature Schnauzer, Willie, who we treated like a first child. Unfortunately, when Willy was older, we had to move to England, and because we didn't want to put Willie, at his age, through a 6 month quarantine we gave him to my sister and her family who loved him like we did. While in England, we got two crazy terriers - a Wire Haired Fox Terrier, Poppy, and a Westie named Lilly. It was wonderful having the two together. We moved back to the states and, of course, the two dogs came with us. As unfortunately happens, Poppy and Lilly, eventually had to be put down due to aging. I couldn't bear not having a dog and got another Wire Haired Fox Terrier, Charlie. After, Charlie's death, I swore I would never have another dog because the pain of loss is just too great. But along came Dottie. Dottie, a Whippet, was irresistible and though I took her in with the stipulation that I would keep her only if we bonded, I knew that we already had. It never occurred to me that a Whippet would be in my life but that dog won my heart. At 14 Dottie had a stroke and had to be put down. I am physically very fit and love going on long walks with dogs.
