Seeking part-time weekend hands-on care in Frederick, MD for our mother in her early 80s whom recently had two surgeries, she is mostly bedbound. Needs assistance getting dressed, changing adult diaper (and once stronger, with bathing/using toilet), exercises, cooking/meal prep. Elderly father is also in the home, he is in a wheelchair but pretty self-sufficient. Mother can do nothing physical (legs) on her own until she gets stronger. Hours are Sat & Sun from 9 - 11a and Fri, Sat & Sun 7 - 9p, or sub-set of days depending on your availability, hours are also flexible. My mother suffers from dementia and needs AM and PM assistance to remember to take her meds which are pre packaged already and she needs help to make sure she eats something as she forgets to eat. Her dinner meal is prepared in the facility kitchen which she eats in her apartment and for her breakfast she can eat whatever she has in her apartment such as oatmeal. Eggs. Cheerios. Etc. She should not be cooking alone yet she enjoys to do so. So if she is cooking breakfast she will need supervision to make sure things get turned off and that she actually eats what she has made such as the eggs. She tends to go to another room and then fails to remember to come back and eat. As of now she showers and dresses by herself which may change over time. She also does her own laundry for now. They change her bed every week and clean her apartment every week. She lives in an independent apartment in a retirement community. You would be hired separately from the facility and I would ensure you would be paid. Thank you.

I'm looking for companion care for my mother in her 70s. We would prefer someone who is looking for a few hours a week only, mostly with transportation and odd jobs. It would be great if you were open to help preparing meals if requested so that my mother will be motivated to cook and eat better. Your responsibilities will include accompanying my mother on errands and transporting her to/from appointments. She does have a car and may just need support with driving and directions as she is not as confident driving in her new area. Preferences for a caregiver who is a non-smoker and CPR / first-aid trained but these are not a must. Help with technology would be appreciated, such as setting up a printer or helping her text on her phone. She has learned some things but needs repetition to make it stick.

I am not Joy, and am her husband, Lee. I am a recent widower who needs someone to prepare meals for me a few times a week in Frederick. The work will be intermittent as I spend much of my time in another location. I am fully mobile and have all my faculties, but just never learned to cook for myself. I do have kidney disease so you need to be aware of the foods I can eat that are low in potassium. I do not care if you prepare them in your house and deliver them or in my house.
