Discover the art of millinery and craft a one-of-a-kind, ethereal headpiece in this hands-on weekend workshop. Using sinamay straw, a beautifully lightweight and sculptural material straw woven in the Philippines, you’ll learn to shape and style a fascinator that’s as unique as you are.

Guided by expert instruction, you’ll master the blocking technique to mold your hat, ensuring a perfect custom fit. Then, explore the creative possibilities of Sinamay—cut, wire, shape and assemble delicate forms to build an airy, eye-catching design. Whether you're drawn to elegant curves, dramatic angles, or a whisper of movement, this workshop will give you the skills to bring your vision to life.

Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike—come ready to experiment, create, and leave with a stunning fascinator that turns heads!

Instructor: Jasmin Zorlu has been a milliner for 35 years, specializing in freeform blocking—a technique that sculpts felt and straw into one-of-a-kind Art Deco-inspired hats. She fell in love with millinery while studying Art History and Studio Art at the University of Michigan, later earning a degree in Accessory Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Jasmin has taught at Parsons School of Design and has led workshops in Michigan, Rhode Island, California, New York and Australia since 2001. She has also collaborated on capsule collections and worked as a freelance hat designer with Bay Area hat company Goorin Brothers. Her workshops offer a hands-on exploration of shaping and stitching unique, sculptural headwear.
