About

In Game Art Studio, campers explore the world of pixel art and animation using Aseprite, a professional tool used to create graphics for 2D video games. Students learn how to design characters, environments, icons, and animated sprites while building strong foundations in color, shading, and animation timing.

Throughout the week, campers create original game-ready artwork such as character walk cycles, enemies, backgrounds, and user interface elements. They also learn how pixel art is used in real games and how their creations can be exported for use in 2D games, Scratch or Flowlab projects, Godot or Unity games, Minecraft-style mods, and animated GIFs.

This camp is ideal for creative kids who love games and want to bring their ideas to life. No prior art or coding experience is required. Recommended for ages 10 - 15.

General Student Skills Requirements

What Parents Should Know
This is an interactive, project-based camp. Campers will actively explore concepts, build projects, and solve problems throughout the week.
Students may encounter challenges or make mistakes during activities—this is a normal and important part of the learning process. Our instructors support students as they experiment, iterate, and build confidence.
All tools used in camp are web-based and provided by Silicon STEM. Campers do not need to create personal accounts unless explicitly instructed by staff.
Devices & Technology:
Camp devices and software are provided and managed by Silicon STEM instructors. Personal laptops or devices are not required unless otherwise noted. Students are expected to use devices responsibly and follow instructor guidance.
Lunch Information & Allergies:
If your camper is enrolled in both AM and PM camps during the same week, please pack a bag lunch so they can join us during the supervised lunch hour.
Please avoid foods that require heating or refrigeration.
For the safety of all campers, do not pack any peanut or peanut-containing products, as we have campers with severe peanut allergies.
If your child has additional allergies or dietary considerations, please notify us in advance so we can help ensure a safe environment.
