About
Does your young scientist ever question what they are eating and why? Or inquire as to how certain foods are created and where they come from? During this Electric Girls Summer Camp session, campers will learn the systematic processes of our food, from chemical and biological interactions of organisms to the mass production of packaging and food distribution. Throughout our Food Science session, campers will study microbiology, engineering, chemistry, sensory science, and nutrition. Experimenting with biodegradable packaging, the reaction of yeast and different food cultures, and learning the impact of microbes on their overall health, we are excited for the campers to get hands on and have fun with the foods they eat! Building off of our session on environmental science, our young scientists will identify various ways to practice sustainability in food production and manufacturing.
Please note that the 2021 scholarship codes are no longer valid, as we are using a different process for scholarships this year.
