About

About the Workshop:
Camp Broadway® introduces children ages 10-13 to the fundamentals of scene writing in this unique virtual creative writing workshop taught by professional actor, director and master teacher, Theo Lencicki. Working with a small group (limited to 15), children will find their individual voice through a series of activities that includes an icebreaker, an explanation of narrative structure, a dialogue exercise, a brainstorming session and a collective “putting it all together” process that results in a 2 minute scene. Whether the group decides to write a comedy or drama, this class is the perfect opportunity for kids to learn how to collaborate, express creative ideas and work as a team toward a common goal—all while they are having fun and meeting new friends.

About the Company:
CAMP BROADWAY® LLC is a leader in audience engagement and a trusted source for parents, teachers and presenters seeking quality year-round enrichment programs, experiential events and educational workshops. Launched in 1995 as Broadway’s “original” summer camp, Camp Broadway is devoted to making theatre arts an accessible vehicle for creative children to build confidence, hone presentation skills and discover their unique talents at every stage of their lives.

The management team, creative staff and training faculty are experienced, knowledgeable professionals who have worked in all aspects of the legitimate theatre and serve as stewards of Broadway’s masterworks. Camp Broadway’s staff is committed to maintaining and teaching the highest professional standards for authenticity, artistic integrity, and attribution of authorship. The company is the recipient of a 2016 Special Drama Desk Award “for introducing young people to the magic of theater and for playing a crucial role in creating tomorrow’s audiences.” It has also been honored for excellence by the Educational Theatre Association and celebrated for its positive social impact on the community by the Best of New York.
