About
Alla Prima Animal Painting Workshop
Join us for this exciting 2 day workshop with Art House instructor and award winning artist, Sara McCain. Workshop begins at 10am both days and ends at 4pm with an hour lunch break. Prior Oil Painting experience recommended.
In this Workshop we will be focusing on painting animals in the alla prima style. Alla prima (also known as “direct painting” or “wet on wet” oil painting) is an Italian term which means “at first”. Using this technique, we will complete entire paintings in one session or two without waiting for the paint layers to dry completely.
This technique is a great way to give your paintings more life and energy! We will spend the beginning of the workshop days with discussion and demos then transition to students working on their pieces to practice what we have learned.
Knowing a bit about your subject will assist you in giving your painting that spark of life we all want to achieve. So prior to the workshop you may want to do some research and sketching to familiarize yourself with your animal(s) of choice.
Spaces are limited, register today.
Please arrive at 9:30am for the first day of the workshop so you have ample time to set up and meet other students.
