Seeking care for my husband in his 80s. Services needed: companionship, help staying physically active, mobility assistance. Looking for someone with 3+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: CPR/first aid training, support for chronic illness, support for memory care. Male caregiver preferred. A little more about my husband: he can be energetic, pleasant, outgoing, independent. Has spinal injury nine years ago. Likes to play bocce, ride his three wheeler and go to pool. When I need a break is at the point where I would feel more comfortable if he had someone to do things with on a regular basis besides me. I'm looking for someone who is patient, strong. At times my husband has a hard time getting his thoughts out. Speech can be slow. So the caregiver must be extremely patient and listen well. The person must make sure when he talks to Bill that he has his full attention. He must also like to go in the pool and bike ride around our complex. Bill also needs to walk regularly for exercise. So person must be someone who is capable of these type of activities. Bill is NOT senile and must NOT be treated as such. Bill balance is not good at times so the person must be strong enough to help keep Bill on his feet if he gets tired. Also assisting if he falls. Bill is a retired teacher and loves good conversation. We both want him to stay independent as long as possible so I want to find him a strong, healthy God centered man who can be a good friend and companion so I can have a break.
