Ariella was my (now 16-month-old) daughter's nanny for almost a year. I recently decided to take a job in California and sadly, can't convince her to move across the country with us. Ariella has not only been a wonderful caretaker and role model to my baby, but a lifesaver for me. I'm a single mom and work crazy, unpredictable hours (investment banking) and she was always flexible and willing to stay late, even at the last minute. She never once left me scrambling to find care when I had to work late and she happily stayed until 2 a.m. at a moment's notice far more times than I'd like to admit. My daughter was loved, safe, and super happy and she blossomed into a ridiculously well-behaved and confident baby under Ariella's care.
In a nutshell, Ariella is:
-Sweet- she adored my daughter and my daughter adored her. (I came home to them snuggled up all the time and I loved knowing that Ariella genuinely really loved and cared about my baby.)
-Respectful- she was 100% supportive of my parenting style, providing consistency of care/routines with my daughter, reinforcing her behaviors in the same way that I did, and helping to ensure my daughter's sense of stability and secure attachment.
-Responsible- she took great care of my daughter, helped me with errands, restocked baby supplies, did a million other helpful things and generally just made sure life was in order for us. For example, when my daughter was sick, Ariella made sure that we took her to the doctor, filled her prescription, followed up with the doctor, and refilled the prescription before I even realized that it needed to be refilled. She was very on top of it when it came to making sure that my daughter was healthy and happy.
-Smart- Ariella knows a ton about child development and age-appropriate activities.
-Honest - my daughter took a few (normal) spills while trying to walk, etc., and Ariella always honestly notified me immediately - even with tiny things, and I felt totally comfortable that she always told me the truth and kept me informed.
-Entertaining - she was very active with my daughter (they took trips to the park, the book store and went on strolls all the time), but she also knew how to keep her entertained and intellectually stimulated when it was too cold to do anything outside. She and my daughter had a lot of fun together.
-And of course, Ariella was always punctual, reliable and hard-working!
In case you are wondering, Ariella is a U.S. citizen (from Illinois), well-educated and energetic (in her 20's). Her weekly rate is very reasonable (especially by New York standards!) and she is always very fair and lenient about working additional overtime.
If you or anyone you know is searching for a nanny, please feel free to message me about Ariella! I highly recommend her, and my daughter and I will miss her a ton when we move. She is a truly awesome nanny and a genuinely kind-hearted person, and your family will be very lucky to have her!
