My Mom had a second major stroke in 2010 and has progressive dementia. She is ambulatory, communicative, and able to feed herself, but she does require toilet assistance, hands-on hygiene care, visitation, activity assist, monitoring, and supervision. With dementia, there are good days and bad days and the care-giver needs to be flexible, creative, intuitive, engaged, responsible, trustworthy, given to detail, communicative, and compassionate. Ideally, I prefer someone who is able and willing to perform housekeeping, such as changing sheets, doing laundry, and maintaining a tidy, clean, and organized home. My parents live with me in my home. I may work from home, in a different area of the house on some scheduled days. The hours are somewhat flexible and there will be additional days/hours available.
