Seeking care for my husband in his 90s. Services needed: meal preparation, help staying physically active, mobility assistance. No prior experience required. A little more about my husband: he can be anxious, reserved, independent. Returning home from 3-1/2 weeks at rehab fur bleed in knee... still painful which is holding him back from being his usual independent self. Walks with walker. Is anxious to be away from all the help at rehab. I'm looking for someone who is patient, quiet. Should be encouraging but not overbearing. Will probably spend much time just being there for him. Hard to tell what level is assistance we'll need. Husband is hard of hearing so finding right level of communication is a must. He will need to get some walking in during the time caregiver is here if possible, diagnosed with a Parkinson's a year ago which is controlled by medication. That affects his walking a bit, but at the moment it is the continuing knee pain that is the main problem. Before this he would get up every day and make his coffee and breakfast. Dress himself and later make lunch. He can still dress himself and we'll see if he's up for making his meals. I can do that if necessary, but there are certain times when I must be out of the house and having someone here may be necessary.
