About who needs care: My mother was diagnosed with Parkinson's earlier this year. This has severely affected her mobility, speech and eatingin a very short amount of time. She needs help using the bathroom, getting up from chairs, walking, getting in an out of cars, etc. Most of her care and the home they live in is manage by my father, who is also in his 70s.
About the care needs: I am looking for a caregiver who can do the following:
- light housework: including laundry, cleaning
- helping with meals: such as warming up food, setting the table, helping to make my mother a plate. My mom can feed herself, but that's about it
- help my mother use the restroom: they have built their primary bathroom with accessibility accessories, but she needs help getting off the toilet seat. She does wear adult diapers, but sometimes does not make it to the bathroom fast enough
- medication management: my mother has had trouble accepting her diagnosis and is not consistent with taking her medications
- movement: my mom needs help and support in moving around. She's often reluctant to do so, and will say that the medications are causing her pain or discomfort
- help with clothing: my mom needs help with dressing herself.
