About who needs care: The job would consist of coming in 5 days per week for several hours per day to clean, do laundry, cook, do dishes,run errands, go grocery shopping, and at times assist my father-in-law with caring for my mother-in-law. There are no pets in the home.
We are looking for someone who has experience doing domestic work, and it is a plus if you have experience with elderly individuals with Parkinsons, Alzheimers, and/or another form of dementia.
Staring out, your shifts would be M-F 11a -2:30p, but as my mother-in-laws condition progresses, the shifts would likely lengthen in the very near future to about 5-6 hrs per day.
Background: My mother-in-law (Sylvia) has Parkinson's and is progressively declining. My father-in-law (Al) is amazing and is her full-time caregiver. When she was first diagnosed, he promised to do everything in his power to keep her at home. Al is 85yo, in wonderful health and runs a few miles each day. Because Sylvia requires so much care and he wants to continue to be the one to provide it to her, it's getting hard for him to get the household chores done. In addition, soon he will not be able to leave her alone when he does his 30 min afternoon run. He is not asking for help as its not in his nature to, but he is very grateful we are hiring someone to help him with the household duties.
