Seeking care for my mother in her 70s. Services needed: bathing / dressing, feeding, medication prompting. Looking for someone with 5+ years of experience caring for seniors. Specialized care needs: support for memory care. Female caregiver preferred. A little more about my mother: she can be lethargic, reserved. Mom has vascular dementia, mostly in bed, will sit in living room or breakfast area for meals. Can walk slowly using walker, weak due to limited movement. She'll probably feel a little nervous with someone new, her overall demeanor is quiet, solemn & sometimes melancholic due to her medical condition. I'm looking for someone who is patient, strong. Patient & kind first & foremost. Mom wears pull-ups & pads daily - caregiver needs to be OK with helping mom out of them in the morning before mom's shower. If mom has had an accident during the night her sheets will need to be changed.
mom will sometimes try to delay getting up. When mom was healthy she was very outgoing & happy to be around people but unfortunately now mom mostly wants to left alone, her Dr attributes it to her vascular dementia. Mom does have sporadic moments of clarity. She really enjoys listening to music especially while getting bathed & dressed. She lives at home with our father & they've been married 56 years.
