I recently received my certification from Vance Granville Community College in the area of certified nursing aide. I have been performing companion/care giver duties over the past 2 years. I have had multiple experiences throughout my past that has instilled in me a passion to work with persons that have special needs. Below are the persons that have touched my life and why I have passion. Family- My grandfather was non-ambulatory resulting from compression fractures of the spine. My brother is currently living with type 2 diabetes. Lion's Club- As an active member and past president of a local Lion's Club, I got first hand experience working with and assisting those persons with blindness and sight impairments. Some of the tasks included: reading, errands, assisted the sighted impaired in receiving adaptive devices for the home setting. Friend- I currently assist a good friend who is a paraplegic and rehabilitating from spinal surgery in her everyday activities of daily living. These activities include: errands, laundry and socialization.
