Oil and other non-stick spreads can change the texture of the recipe.&rdquo;&nbsp;You can also make non-dairy cookies with chocolate by purchasing vegan chocolate chips, available at many health food stores. &ldquo;Some semi-sweet brands of chocolate chips are also dairy-free, but you have to check the labels carefully,&rdquo; says Kern.<\/p><p>Opting out of dairy doesn&rsquo;t have to mean compromising flavor either. Dairy-free bakers say you often can&rsquo;t even tell that cookies are non-dairy. &ldquo;My <a href=\"https:\/\/www.care.com\/c\/stories\/3617\/dairy-free-desserts-kids-will-love\/\">dairy-free recipes<\/a> look and taste like any other cookie with full dairy,&rdquo; says Kelly Rudnicki, author of &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Food-Allergy-Mamas-Baking-Book\/dp\/1572841028\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1427208726&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=the+food+allergy+mama%27s+baking+book\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Food Allergy Mama&rsquo;s Baking Book<\/a>.&rdquo;&nbsp;&ldquo;In many cases, they taste even better than the real thing.&rdquo;<\/p><p>Baking together is a great way for parents and caregivers&nbsp;to help a child learn how to work around their food intolerance!
