Yet how much do parents really understand about what it&rsquo;s like to be their family&rsquo;s nanny?<\/p><p>We recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/caredotcom\/posts\/10155942557774862:0\">asked on Facebook<\/a> and on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.care.com\/c\/questions\/32108\/what-do-you-wish-parents-knew-about-your-job\/\">community site<\/a>:<em> <strong>&rdquo;What do you wish parents knew about your job?&rdquo; &nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p dir=\"ltr\">Below are a few of our favorite answers. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.care.com\/c\/questions\/32108\/what-do-you-wish-parents-knew-about-your-job\/\">Join the discussion here<\/a>.<\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li>&ldquo;That we aren&rsquo;t just a &lsquo;babysitter&rsquo; and how hard\/much we do love your kids as they&rsquo;re our own!!! It&rsquo;s hard work.&rdquo;<em> ~Kim<\/em><\/li><li>&ldquo;Know the difference between a nanny and a housekeeper. I&rsquo;m a nanny I watch and tend to your children, keep them safe and love them. I tidy up after them, but I will not be cleaning your toilets and mopping your floors&hellip;. I get no break or lunch. I don&rsquo;t get a moment to chat with a coworker. I wish there was a class for parents to be nannies for one day just to see how unappreciated they feel.&rdquo; <em>~Giovanna<\/em><\/li><li>&ldquo;That when you are home your kids are 10x worse than when we&rsquo;re alone lol&rdquo; <em>~Samantha<\/em><\/li><li>&ldquo;How many duties and responsibilities I have. Caring for someone who cannot take care of themselves for whatever reason is a big responsibility that shouldn&rsquo;t be taken lightly&hellip;.it is my calling I wouldn&rsquo;t do anything else, but it surely doesn&rsquo;t pay well. We are severely underpaid&hellip;I wish they would at least pay a livable wage.&rdquo; <em>~Yvonne<\/em><\/li><li>&ldquo;That my first priority is your children. So, if I see something harmful or stressful to them, I&rsquo;m going to bring it up to you, even if you &lsquo;don&rsquo;t think it&rsquo;s any of my business&rsquo;. Their mental and emotions well-being is JUST as important as their physical.&rdquo; <em>~Maggie<\/em><\/li><li>&ldquo;I would like my parents to know This is my career. Not just a job. I&rsquo;ve been a nanny (not a babysitter) for over 20 years. Still keep in contact with most of these families. I genuinely love their children&hellip;. Communication is a must.
