Toy Story Halloween Costumes

Sara Eberle
Sept. 27, 2012

As part of the Care.com Halloween costume series, learn how to turn your kids into Buzz and Buddy from their favorite movie!

Buzz Lightyear and Sherriff Woody Pride might be the most famous animated rivalry of all time. Have Toy Story fans? Recreate their favorite pair within Andy's toys. Have a bigger group? Add a T-rex to play Rex, a pig costume for Hamm, and a cowgirl as Jessie

Buzz Materials:

  • White long sleeve shirt
  • White yoga pants that flare at the bottom
  • Lime green and black Duck Tape
  • Black, blue and red Sharpies
  • White gloves
  • White sneakers

Step 1: Lay out the shirt. Wrap green Duck Tape around arms, just below elbows, around the edge of the bottom of the shirt and around the neck line. Add a band of black Duck Tape just above the green one on the bottom edge. Add a band of black Duck Tape around upper arms/shoulders. Using black, blue and red Sharpies, make "buttons" on green tape around neck line -- black, blue and red ovals on left and red circle on right.

Step 2: Add a band of green Duck Tape around the bottom edge of each pant leg.

Step 3: Add a band of green Duck Tape to the top toe part of the sneakers.

Step 4: Put on outfit and white gloves.

Woody Materials:

Cowboy outfit:

  • Yellow-based plaid shirt (or yellow button down shirt with red grid pattern drawn with a Sharpie)
  • Black and white cow print vest (or use black and white t-shirts)
  • Blue jeans
  • Brown cowboy boots
  • Red bandana or handkerchief
  • Brown belt with buckle
  • Gun holster
  • Cowboy hat

Step 1: If making your own vest, cut trace and cut ameba-like splotches out of black t-shirt.

Step 2: From white t-shirt, cut off sleeves. Then cut a large v-shape at the neck and up the middle. Glue or tape black splotches onto the vest. Assemble and put on costume.

Step 3: Dress your child as the cowboy. Tie bandana around neck and stick under the collar.
