Connecticut - Home Care

When an aging senior reaches a point where they cannot or choose not to live alone, many families elect to find a senior care facility. But if a senior would like to live at home and just needs some assistance, Home Care can be a great alternative to nursing homes to help your senior "age in place." Read the article Home Care vs. Nursing Home Care to get more information about the differences.

Home care allows visits from skilled nurses who provide skilled medical home care or non-medical home care, ranging from medical treatments to more assistive services in a senior's own home. A senior who requires daily medical treatment and intensive assistance is the proper candidate for skilled medical home care which provides medical treatments including pain relief, infusion therapy, wound care, medication administration, and more. This is a good option for a senior who would likely need nursing home care. If a senior does not require daily medical treatment, but does need some help to get through a day's typical tasks like dressing and bathing assistance, food preparation, assistance with chores and errands, and just general companionship, then non-medical home care is a great option.
