7 Pieces of Inspiration from Real Working Moms

Moms tell us what they really think about working and being a parent.

Parents are always looking for better work-life balance. But here's the first tip,
there's no such thing as real balance. It's an integration that sometimes leans too far
toward work (where family seems to suffer) or vice versa. But with more women
staying in the workforce post-kids, we need to rally together for some morale
support. So let's start. Here, some real working moms for some inspirational
thoughts. Share yours below.

  1. Relish the Rewards
"I always thought I was a caring teacher, but being a mom has made me a stronger, tougher educator. It's hard to accept excuses from a 10-year-old student when your 4-year-old son can manage responsibility better." - Ann R.*

  2. It Makes You Stronger
"Although I'd rather be home with my kids everyday, I need to work. Without an income, there'd be no dance classes. We all need dance class!" - Elizabeth K.*

  3. You Make Them Proud
"Hearing my daughters talk about what I do with pride makes it all worth it. I strive every day to be a role model for my children, both as a mom and a doctor. I want them to learn that family is number one, but helping others is also very important." - Stacey E.*

  4. You Make Yourself Proud
"All day I manage my division and look out for my employees' best interests. At night, I manage my household and focus on my children's best interests. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed. Heck, most of the time I feel overwhelmed! But I know that one day I'll look back on the challenges of being a working mom, and think: 'Look at all that you've accomplished. Dang, girl, you were amazing!'"- Jessi G.*

  5. You're in This Together
"Delegating household tasks to my husband and daughter not only allows me to get more done at home, but also brings us all closer. When we all share in the work, I have time for my own bubble baths!" - Peggy B.*

  6. Find Your Balance
"Splitting my time between work and family made it hard for me to find time to exercise. So I took my kids to yoga with me one day, and they loved it. Now, we do it together all the time. I've even noticed that the more we do yoga, the better behaved and more focused my kids are throughout the day." - Jennifer W.*

  7. Create Your Time Together
"We start every morning the same, no matter if it's a weekday or a weekend: My son and I eat breakfast together in our pajamas. It's the time of the day when I have the most energy and when he's the most talkative. We have some of our best conversations over pancakes and eggs." - Mo M.*
