101 great teacher appreciation gifts

When you want to show your child's teacher a little extra love, teacher appreciation gifts can be just the ticket. Whether you go big or small, giving your kid's teacher a homemade or store-bought token of appreciation is a great way to show your thanks.

When thinking about the type of gift to give to your child's teacher, think small and thoughtful, says Laurie Reis, the co-creator of Two Sisters Crafting.

"Something that is personal is nice, such as a little note or craft," she says. "But then include something a little more substantial, such as a gift card, to say thank you for all you do for our kid during the year."

Personalized gifts go a long way. Caitlin Conway Torelli is a high school teacher for severe special education students in Wakefield, Massachusetts. She says the favorite gift she's ever received from a student was a personalized pot with a plant.

"Things that are personal and not necessarily school-related really mean an incredible amount to me," she says.

Most importantly, Reis says, try to keep it simple.

"Make it look pretty with glitter and crayons," she says. "And remember, you can do a lot with a hot glue gun!"

Whether your child creates the gift on her own, gets some help from you or you just decide to venture out to your local store and pick something up, this list has you covered with ideas spanning all personalities and interests. So take a peek and see what you can do to make your child's teacher smile before she packs up for summer vacation.
