ALERT: Fire Hazard Causes Recall of 23K Crib, Toddler Mattresses

Dream On Me, a children’s furniture company, is recalling more than 23,000 spring and foam crib and toddler mattresses due to a fire hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the items “fail to meet the federal flammability standard for mattresses.”

The New Jersey-based children’s furniture manufacturer said the recall, announced Dec. 12, impacts roughly 23,400 mattresses sold throughout the U.S. between January 2016 and December 2016.

The bed cushions, which cost between $40 and $90, were sold in a variety of sizes, colors, and patterns at major retailers like Amazon.com, Kohls.com, ToyRUs.com, Walmart.com, and Wayfair.com.

While no injuries have been reported, the CPSC advised consumers to stop using the faulty mattresses right away and to contact Dream On Me for a complimentary mattress cover that will bring the product up to federal safety standards.

To determine if your child’s mattress is one of 10 products included in the recall, check the model number and date of manufacture that is printed toward the top middle of the item.
