First look in the area you are willing to work, then check for part time or full time. Check your hourly rate making sure it is comparable with your area. When responding to a client make your response SHORT. Remember prospects are reading thru dozens of apps. I do like to meet face to face with them at a Panera or Starbucks. You can discern for yourself if you would be a good fit for their family. If you don't feel as if it won't be happening..... thank them for their time.

When applying for a job, it is important to first "perfect" your resume. There are many resources online to suggest what to add to your resume and what qualifications and skills to add. There are even outlines on Microsoft Word that you can use. It also helps to write a cover letter for the position in which you are applying to. As for searching for a job, there are now many free websites that post job openings or a traditional way of searching would be to venture around your neighborhood and see if any stores or companies have a sign on their window. You can also view a "career" page on a company's website to see if they are taking applications. Lastly, you can search for a job by contacting an agency or a recruiter who can do the work for you in sending out your application to jobs that are looking for employees.
Just enter the type of work your looking and the distance your are willing to travel. Then search the opportunities. Its that easy.
