😳 What's the most embarrassing moment you've had on the job? 😳
Last week we asked you "If you could change one thing about your job, what would it be?" and you shared some great answers! This week our question is:
What's the most embarrassing moment you've had on the job?
having to you-tube how to change a diaper. IT was gross and nasty and NOTHING a 13 Should learn how to do ON THE JOB!!! UGGGHHHH!!!
The most embarrassing moment I've had while on the job is I was having a sing and dance along with the 3 year old I was watching and my (then 7 year old) daughter. I was singing along to "Let It Go" at the top of my lungs and when the song ended, I heard applause from the neighbors outside!
I almost got locked in a chicken coop because the ladies dog tried to follow me in but luckily it did not latch, I cannot imagine how I would have gotten myself out of that one without calling my boyfriend and being so embarrassed
I worked with two little girls who were looking at my dogs genitalia. They proceeded to ask me questions..
One of my captains on my dance team decided to call me out for a dance battle. I could not turn her down in front of the team, and I wanted to show my students I'm not too old to have fun. I had way too much fun and ripped my pants.
I found the child playing a snake I was terrified come to find out it was a household pet. I grabbed that child so fast and the entire time she was laughing at me.
The most embarrassing moment I've had on the job is when I was on my way to an interview. Their house was only 15 minutes from my apartment but I hopped in the car and got lost and ended up an hour out of the way. They were really supportive on the phone and waited for me. But it was really tough explaining that I was in the car for that long without realizing I had absolutely no idea where I was going. Cringe!
During a really slow week, I offered to help my previous family clean out their garage and offered to take their donations to Goodwill since it had been on their to-do list for awhile. There were a few trash bags full of clothes, books, and a pile of old foldable strollers. When dad boss came home, he let me off early so that I could make it to the donation center before it closed. While I was inside, dad boss tossed a few more things in the donation pile and put another stroller next to the old strollers. On my way home from the donation center, I got an urgent text from mom boss that made my stomach sink... Apparently the stroller dad boss unloaded from his car was brand new high-tech stroller and he didn't mean to put it so close to the donation piles, but Goodwill was already closed so I couldn't call to ask anyone what happened to it. I stressed all night and woke up at 6:00am to try and stop Goodwill from processing the new stroller. Luckily, I succeeded and was able to return it to my bosses, but I swear I sprouted a few gray hairs in the process!
It was Christmas and I was getting the Elfs ready to pull another prank on the kids. The silly little elfs used a black dry erase marker and drew a beard, a mustache and some very bushy eyebrows on my face...while I was sleeping! Of course the kids loved it....and of course, I forgot all about it. About an hour later the doorbell rang and The pool guy was here to service the pool....do I really need to say more?
The most embarrassing moment that I had on the job would have to be the moment I fell off of a hover board. I was playing with my kids, had never been on one and thought I'd give it a try...BIG MISTAKE LOL! I tried to jump off of the hover board and went hiney first onto a tiled floor OUCH!
Oh that's easy! Geeking out with the kids. Getting caught singing and dancing with them. You know, when you are in the groove? Yes, you want your nanny to behave that way, but come on , it's a little embarrassing.
My most embarrassing moment on the job is when i went to the library with the children i care for and i got thrown up in the face and pooped on only to have to walk back to their home with my dirty white jeans and a big poop stain right in front of my jeans
As a nanny you learn the "must dos" or “must haves” on the job. My most embarrassing moment was when I was taking care of a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old. The one year old got sick and threw up all over the place and on me. I didn’t have a change of clothes and I had to call the parents at work and ask if I could raid their wardrobe. Plus, at 5’ 3” I was about 5 inches shorter than the mom. Since then, I always keep an extra change of clothes in the car.
The most embarrassing moment I've had on the job was probably when the head gasket on my car blew, while my nks were in the car! It was such a drag for them to have to wait with me on the side of the road till my father-in-law could come to help us, and they never wanted to go anywhere with me again!
One young boy who had just transitioned from diapers to big boy pants hurt his pee pee and wanted me to kiss it better like I kissed all his booboos. Not wanting to make a big deal about it, I decided to kiss my finger and relay the kiss that way. He was happy and we moved on. Thank the Lord!
I always feel awkward when kids don't want to leave me when their parents arrive.
One of the funniest and most embarrassing moments was back when I nannied for a 2 year old boy one summer. I was still in high school, 18 years old at the time. I took the boy to the park and was asked about being his parent and about how big he was for his age and if his father was a big guy! It was funny because the boy I nannied was fair skinned and strawberry blonde, I'm olive skinned with very dark hair. Just awkward!!!
The most embarrassing moment on a Job is when you are giving an instruction for the first time on the job and forget how to do it and you ask for a reminder of what to do and you get yelled at by the parents.
i haven't had a job yet on here but i worked with a lot of kids and including my siblings now even though there my siblings doesn't mean it was easy . but the diarrhea down the back was the worst for my little sister but i handled it got older had a little brother and was prepared for the situation
when accidentally broke a cup, when i was getting the dishes done
Haven't had one.
When i was playing catch with the kids and I slipped and slid forward about 10 feet along the wet grass.
Well, the most embarrassing thing I had on the job was when I did not know how to help my first time.
not as mush
not a morning person, and that the parents understand, 3 kids and paid $15 is a lot of work.
Honestly, I wouldn't change a thing I love this job I love kids so it all works out.
My pants ripped out and my behind was exposed.
Earlier this year I left my purse outside the door to go inside. Though it was early in the morning, my purse was taken. I was careless.
My most embarrassing moment on a job was when my office was planning a farewell party for a staff member and in an email that was sent, i was suppose to bring cake but I brought cake utensils because they said I should bring in what was needed for lunch outside of food. Well I figured that meant knives, forks and plates.. I was so embarrassed lol.
I've actually haven't had an embarrassing moment.
A little girl I once nannied for tooted in the elevator and blamed the smell on me (there was another person in the elevator with us!).
The worst probably has to be spilling coffee all over myself , 5 mins into my 10 hour shift. I was like a walking Starbucks
While I was babysitting the child asked if I was going to marry my prom date.
To be honest I believe I have had one. And is very blessed on that one.
The most silly moment I've had is when I lifted up a child from nap and the child farted and then for some reason, some how I farted on accident right after and we just looked at each other and giggled.
Haven't had any yet.
When I worked at Peets Coffee for short term. I forgot one of my favorite costumers name. Even though I saw that person each day of the week.
Two boys decided to tell each other to look at my buttcrack... and proceeded to pull my shirt up in the back, pull pants down a little, separately, and check it out. Seems like after that we were all good. :)
When a toddler had a bowel movement while in the crib for a nap and then painted the crib and wall with BM. Fun clean up.
I was tending three little girls. I had already put the older two to bed and I was feeding the 3-month old before putting her to sleep as well. When I went to burp her, she threw up the entire bottle on my jeans and the couch. Not my favorite moment, but she was so cute I couldn't even be upset
I cried because my coworker told me that his long-term girlfriend broke up with him and my heart hurt for him
The youngest child was in potty training, one day we went to the pool and he didn't told me on time and he made poo in the pool!
probably when I was cashier and someone gave me the right change after I put in the amount they had given me, like lets their total was $10.64 and they gave me a 20 then I would type in 20 and then they would say oh wait I found 6 cents here you go. then I got all frozen up because I was put on the spot just to do simple math. I've done that a couple of times and I know how to do math but on the spot its hard lol.
The most embarrassing moment I've had on the job would have to be, when a customer called in and his name was Flynn. I thought to myself Flynn Rider from Tangled and then I ended up calling him Flynn Rider. I think he thought I was making fun of him but I really wasn't. It just slipped. I instantly turned red and turned 10 degrees hotter.
One time, I was carrying a hot water container and I slipped and fell in front of everyone, but not only that the hot water spilt all over me. Totally HURT and embarrassing.
most embarrassibg thing is I am a little clumsy I always seen to break something.
Getting caught dancing with the kids I was babysitting, although it may have been cute from afar :)
I would have to answer this question honestly by reporting infant who experienced a major case of diarrhea in a public setting. All I could offer was a polite *excuse me* and a SMILE!
I had a child poop themselves and then proceed to throw it at me while running down the beach screaming nakey baaaaby.
I got scared and scared the mom. We both laughed out loud.
someone asked me something about a situacion and did not know
Can't think of any.
My pants ripped while I was playing games with a kid I was babysitting! That's gotta be up there on the embarrassing stories X-D
I was playing hide and seek with two toddlers, I ran, fell and slid across their whole kitchen. I told their mother that if they had a nanny cam to go to 11AM that morning for a good laugh!
When I was 17 (almost eight years ago) I dropped and broke a kitchen timer while babysitting. I was so embarrassed and terrified that I would be in trouble that when the mom got home I told her what happened while fighting back tears and offering to buy her a new one. She started laughing, opened a cabinet and pulled out two extra ones just like it.
When on one occasion I arrived 10 minutes late, because I had problems to open my garage door.
I walked out of the bathroom with my skirt tucked into my underwear and I didn't realize it for a really long time
Showing up late
May God give me more health life to be able to continue doing my work to offer children the love of time under my care .
In my way to babysit, my friend that was driving hit a biiiiig pothole and I slept all my coffee on top of me... literally from head to toe. When I got to the house I was going to babysit, I smelled like coffee soooo bad!!! hehehe! They were super nice and gave me another shirt to wear so I could soak mine on water. hehehe!
So one time I was out side playing with Lilah a charismatic three year old. Her brother Jack was taking a nap. She wanted to go down the slide but asked if I would go down first. I politely obliged the request. Right before I went down the baby started to cry. I went down the slide. Immediately I smelled dog poo it was the end of winter so leaves were covering it. I promptly told Lilah, "Do Not come down the slide!" Then we went inside rushing to wash my hands all the while the baby is screaming. I still have dog poop on my butt. Lilah is grossed out but being an awesome helper but also asking what is going to happen with my pants. I tell her one thing at a time first wash my hands, then calm Jack down, then I will worry about my pants. I ask Lilah "How much poo is on there?" Her response,"A LOT!" Once it was all said and done I was just glad that I went down the slide first or that story would have been way different and way more hectic!!
The most embarrassing moment I've ever had on a job would have to be when I was watching 2 kids. I started eating a piece of chocolate, and I got my tongue trapped underneath the wire on my braces. It was a super fun time trying to sort it out, and I will never forget it.
The toddler I was taking care of repeated all her parents fights with me. She didn't any idea what she was saying!
Many years ago while walking upstairs with a pile of my laundered clothes in my hands- because heaven forbid that I use a basket-, I accidentally dropped some clothes from the very top of the stairs. As the universe will have it, one of my underwear landed on my employer’s head! In that moment, I just wanted to leave my belongings behind and leap out of the nearest window. I nearly fainted when I heard the lady of the house cackling and ‘complimenting’ him on his new ‘floral hat’… referring to the underwear on his head. To make matters worse, she called him Mr. Thong Head for the rest of the day and did not waste a second to share the story with a couple of their friends. We all had a good laugh about it later on, but it took a couple of days plus getting rid of that underwear to stop having flashbacks of the incident O_O
haha, well one funny thing was, i was changing a diaper, and little did i know, he wasn't done with his business, so than he started too pee!! funniest moment ever!
I did not encounter any embarrassing situation
Having kids want to go out to swim but one child getting stuck halfway into her swimsuit. While the other children were out playing, I realized that she was going to be upset as long as she could not play, so we got to settle down and figure the suit out while multi-tasking with the other kids running around.
The most embarrassing moment while I was babysitting occurred when I was playing with a three-year-old. She had been swinging her princess wand and had almost hit me and her brother. I decided to take it away so no one got hurt. She then had a temper tantrum and said she hated me. It was embarrassing but the next day she was back to her bubbly self and said she loved me. She definitely needed that sleep!
I've never had an embarrassing moment
I was babysitting two children: a three year old, and an 18 month old. The younger of the two was just starting potty training, and he had a bit of an accident while I was there because he couldn't make it to the bathroom in time. I was quite embarrassed when I had to ask where the appropriate cleaning supplies were, but he ended up making it to the bathroom the next time, and the rest of the night went really well!
Once i was at a public pool with my nanny babies, which included a 5 year old, a 3 year old, and twins who were 5 months. i had the twin babies in my arms and was trying to give the 3 year old confidence to get into the pool and cheer them on when both twins decided to gave blowouts and it got onto my clothes. there i was, at a public pool, with 4 babies, covered in poop.
When the child got poop on me when I was changing him, lol!
Nothing I would change about my job
Everything you can believe is possible.
The most embarrassing thing that happened to me was calling the father by the babies name! We were celebrating his 1st birthday and I was talking to the father and staring at the child! ha ha ha I made the whole room laugh!
Probably when my shorts ripped at the swimming pool last summer! It didn't make a noise so I tried to hide it but the girls eventually saw it and thought it was hilarious.
I think the most embarrassing moment that I've ever experienced on a job would have to be when I got the time wrong for babysitting and I arrived an hour earlier than they wanted me to arrive. I apologized profusely but they asked me to stay, so I cleaned while they were getting ready to leave. I have never felt so in the way!
So, hands down, the most embarrassing moment I have had was a few years back. I was babysitting for a family watching their 2 little girls and having a conversation with the Mother once they returned home. I don't remember the exact point of the conversation, but whatever she wastalking about she ended it with, "every once in a blue moon." My immediate response was, "Oh yeah! My dad drinks those sometimes too!!"
none so far
When I heard that there was a snake and a lizard in the house!
I was babysitting a six week old; his mom was a teacher and his dad was a policeman. His dad worked the night shift two days a week, so I watched him while Dad slept. The most embarrassing moment during my time as their sitter was when Dad had to come downstairs to soothe his son because I could not get him to stop crying. It was later discovered that the child had a stomach bug.
I was doing laundry for a family once and the detergent was one of the jumbo sized ones. They kept it above the washing machine and when I pressed down to dispense the liquid, the entire thing fell down and spilled detergent all over my clothes! I randomly had workout clothes in my car to change into while I washed my clothes that were soaked in detergent!
Sorry, but I don't have any embarrassing moments in my present job. But I have some funny embarrassing moments I would love to share with you another time.
Last week I was dog/house sitting for the family I nanny for and I got stuck in their bathroom. The door was stuck at the top and it opens to the inside so the only way to open it was to push it from the outside. Luckily I had the house unlocked and my mom came and got me out. I never told them about it, but it's embarrassing.
thanks God, none for now!
I never had an embarrassing moment
I once was wearing crocs and tripped over my own feet while mopping. On the way down to the ground when I was falling I decided to try and grab the mop bucket to hold myself up... long story short I split the entire mop bucket all over myself and the floor!
When I accidentally locked myself inside the inventory closet, hehe!
Thanks to my experience of 20 years with Children and all the training I received along those year with childhood professional people, I think that I can not be embarrassed working with Children; I was always able to find a solution whatever was the concern I face (allergy, children sickness, children behavior, multiple children to take care in the same time, etc.)
I have not lived an embarrassing moment in my job for until now, sometimes the families are embarrassed on the awful behavior of their kids, but that is normal to me, some times kids show themselves in many ways, my work also is come through that situations with them and help in the Kid's education and manners.
spilled an entire cup of paint in my hair
One day I had my spare handbag full of toys searched over by a two year old who found a new panty liner I must of stashed in there and forgot about. I found it stuck to his bedroom wall when I put him down for a nap. LOL!
First day at Wright's I spilled the mop bucket all over the floor and all over my feet.
tripping over a toy.
My goodness, I would say that it probably was when I temporarily needed to use the facilities, more often than usual!
Well I would have to say one time when I worked with a group of elementary kids and they asked do I have a girlfriend. I was shying away from the answer until one day on my off days I was going for a walk with my love and I hear " TEACHER MICHAEL I SEE YOU". I already knew the day I come back into that class all I was going to hear is " TEACHER MICHAEL HAS A GIRLFRIEND" lol. Not going to lie I was blushing because I was a teacher assistant and I dont know I guess I was just shy with the topic lol.
Don't think I have ever had an embarrassing moment. Since I am 19 I have only ever done babysitting and retail jobs over the summers. But one of the funniest things about one family I babysat for was that their daughter in 4th grade would love to watch the cooking channel! Was so sweet and really entertaining for me as well!
I set up the kids pool and sprinkler one hot day. Then realized I didn't have a change of clothes with me. The mom was under 5'and very tine so I had to borrow a pair of sports shorts and a t-shirt from the dad. I looked ridiculous!!
going to the wrong house and the owners look at you like you lost your mind lol
Probably when the family dog ate everyone's breakfast as I was getting the children dressed. OOps.
While beginning my summer internship, I showed up the first few days in very professional attire, with full make-up, and hair done to the skies! I was then told a few days later that the dress attire is work-casual. I felt so embarrassed, but I made a lasting and professional first impression!
On my first day of one job, I was outside with the toddler and--as I was reaching to stop him--he took a step and fell off a curb in the parking lot. He got some tiny scrapes but was otherwise fine. He scared the life out of me and I then had to take him back into the office and explain to his parents what had happened. Thankfully they thought it was funny. Apparently he does that on a regular basis.
I made the mistake of wearing a long and flow like skirt to a daycare for dress down day. Needless to say I spent a duration of the day holding the skirt down so no more of the kids got a free "peep show"!
Parent coming home to a child upset.
This would definitely be when I was 12 years old babysitting for a neighborhood family... I put their dishes in the dishwasher and was so pleased with myself... only to have them come home to the dishwasher bubbling over because I had used soap that wasn't meant for a machine!!!!! Whoops. Luckily, they were cool about it and I continued sitting for them. :)
It's a nanny right of passage when caring for a baby boy.. The mommy came home as I was about to give a diaper change. The second it came off BOOM I was suddenly at the Bellagio. Pee on my shirt, the sofa, my shoulder! All the while, baby Nathan was giggling hysterically! I was mortified! But thankfully the mommy was nice enough to lend me a dry t-shirt! Incredibly embarrassing but definitely a nanny right of passage.
I always try to clean up whatever messes have been made after the kids go to bed (Especially things that they can't help me with, like dishes). But once the parents came home a couple hours early and the house looked crazy (especially the playroom)! I didn't get a chance to clean up...
Playing hide and seek with the kiddos. I was found every time!! Making arts and crafts glued my fingers together. Great example for the NOT to use more glue than necessary. Have a great day!
I took the two kids I nannied at the time out to the Library in town. It was a nice summer morning and the library wasn't far, so we decided to walk there and back. Neither of them mentioned until we'd almost gotten home that I had a huge tear down the back of my pants!! Luckily their mom had a sewing kit and the day was saved!
The little boy I used to watch was a pretty funny little guy and would always ask me questions then proceed to contradict my answer with super silly ones. One day he asked me how I thought his mom kept the floor so clean, my response: aliens come in while were at the park and use huge dirt and toy magnets. His response: well we have a vacuum......... done.
I would become a writer, and write fiction and nonfiction story's for any age group.
There's something you want to say, but the words are just on the tip of my tongue, and then......I forget how to say.
The most embarrassing moment for me was accidentally calling the child by the name of another child I was caring for.
I was caring for a friends little boy, we were walking through the mall that was about to close, I forgot to mention earlier that day I was wearing a T shirt, then before we left I changed into a shirt that had a scoop neck shirt.Well as we were walking these to guys walked by and at that moment the little boy says, Hey how'd your boobs get so big? I thought I was going to die.
A baby I was watching (2 months old) had a blowout all over me! I had plenty of experiences with babies in the past, but this was a first! It was embarrassing, but I got him and myself all cleaned up quickly and swiftly!
I was giving a toddler a bath and next thing I know he's standing up and peeing in the bath tub! I had to drain the water and start all over again!
I forgot to close the garage door upon leaving. I realized it about 2 blocks away, and returned immediately to close it.
being late on the job, because of traffic, accident.
Most embarrassing moment was definitely when I sprayed stainless steel cleaner on rag for fridge... some for on the floor. Moments later I was walking quickly passed that spot and up in the air and down to the ground I went. The mom was Home so I'm sure she heard it. Lol. I can laugh about it now.
My client live alone and to make sure that she's doing fine and I can hear her when she call me I make the bathroom door open when I go to the bathroom. One day her family came over I rush in closing the door. Didn't expect they will be visiting.
I saw the baby trying to poop but he was struggling, so I kept checking his diaper every 10 minutes to make sure he had/hadn't pooped so I could change him. After roughly an hour of going back and forth, he didn't poop. I ended up forgetting about it because he didn't show anymore signs of trying to push nor did he whine. I start playing with him and he gets a little fussy, so I pick him up and put him on my hip. All the sudden, I smell poop. (Let me be clear, I am veryyy attentive when I am with children so I have no idea how this happened). I go to put him down and feel something wet on my arm. I look at my arm, then my shirt, then the child .... Explosive diarrhea ALL OVER US. It was so embarrassing. I lived 45 minutes away (without traffic) so I couldn't just go home. My boss told me to put on her sweatpants and wash mine in the washer, but I didn't feel comfortable doing that.... So, I walked around dirty the rest of my 11 hour shift.
my most embarrassing moment was when i babysat for a kid, i told the boy to not pee on the patio & well.......... he was 8 & decided he knew best, i gladly told his parents though, so did his little sister & he got in a lot of trouble
The most embarrassing moment I have ever had on the job was when the 11 year old I nannied walked downstairs naked and I had to carefully explain that it is not appropriate "even if we are all girls, and girls are powerful." A similar conversation followed when she asked why she could not play men's football and dress in the men's changing room... HOWEVER, she could play co-ed football.
I don't really remember if I had any embarrassing moments. Think maybe when I worked in fast food industry, I dropped some food in front of customers. Also worked in retail pharmacy. Never know what you can expect there.. Always a moment
I went to the playground to play with the children and forget to take the keys to the door.
One time, I was using the bathroom, and one of the preschoolers I was babysitting busted into the bathroom and said "Look what I made" because he was showing his arts and crafts creation. It was embarrassing but he didn't even realize the situation at hand because he was so excited about his art!!
