Preschool help Littleton, CO
We are moving to Littleton, Colorado and I'm looking for recommendations for preschools for my soon to be 3 year old. We are close to the Ken Caryl area so really in West Littleton. If anyone has any recommendations on a preschool or daycare please let me know.
Basically, you have three choices as to type of care: 1)private nanny (most expensive); 2)home based day care; 3)regular day care center. If you decide to go for the second or third choices, I would advise you to go unannounced - do NOT tell them you're coming or you won't see what it is really like.
I don't live there so I can't make suggestions. However, once you do decide which places to consider, you visit without announcing yourself or making an appointment - that way you will get amore accurate impression of what the place is like and how they care for the children.
Deal directly with the school to be safe in that way you will get proper information
I personally would recommend that you look farther than chain-brand preschools, daycares and childcare facilities. There are a number of in-home preschools created by individuals who truly adore children and will only have a choice few on hand at any given time. Just be sure that the ones you are considering are licensed! This means that they need to follow the same protocols and procedures as if they were a preschool outside of a home.
I recommend a part time school associated with a church....less kids and more attention per child. There is a wonderful YMCA not too far away and they are a great resource as well. When my kiddos were young, I brainstormed with other moms for their recommendations as well. So often, the look on the outside fools you. Don't be overly impressed by how pretty a place is....rather its reputation and class size!!! The smaller the better...more attention to each child. Kim
I do not know the area but I do know about preschool curriculum and I strongly recommend that you look for a school that follows the High Scope philosophy - it is solidly based and designed and age appropriate! Of course you will want to check on school cleanliness and sanitation, nutritional issues and school safety, equipment and supplies which contribute to children's enrichment and learning
