Bravecto Side effects:
I have 2 Rottweilers that were given Bravecto after finding ticks on them 6 weeks ago. Within a week my female that's only 18 months old started scratching a lot & getting bumps on her neck. Next my male 6 yrs old has never had any SKIN ISSUES started scratching and the flakes coming off him is ridiculous. I feel so bad cuz I allowed my vet to give that medication to them and now they are miserable and I don't know what to do to make them BETTER???? I guess I should be grateful that my babies only have skin problems compared to the stories I have read?? I'm horrified, I SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE RESEARCH ON THE PRODUCT MYSELF, BEFORE ALLOWING MY VET TO ADMINISTER IT TO MY PUPS?? That is a MISTAKE I will not make AGAIN!!!! I am searching for answers if anyone knows anything that will help my Babies I'D GREATLY APPRECIATE THE INFO???? I hope that our story helps others to not have to go thru what we have gone thru............ Thank you
Hello, Debbie! I saw your post and understand your concerns as a dog lover myself. Bravecto is designed to get rid of ticks, which is probably why your veterinarian suggested it. As you mentioned though, there are a bunch of other side effects of Bravecto, such as diarrhea, vomiting, hair loss, etc., which are caused by the active ingredient, fluralaner. Seeing as your dogs have only gotten skin conditions as a result of Bravecto, I'd suggest using skin treatments for your dogs. For your female Rottweiler, you may want to bathe her in warm water regularly to prevent any type of infection of the bumps and since the bumps are on her neck, check her collar for any irritation it may be causing. For the male, I'd go with feeding him a moister diet in order to hydrate his skin more, which should relieve the itchiness and flaking. While these suggestions may treat your dogs' conditions, I'd definitely suggest getting it checked out by your vet as well in order to ensure the best treatment for your dog's condition. Please know it is definitely not your fault that your dogs have contracted these symptoms and I'm sure the vet had your pets' best interest at heart, but Bravecto is just not the right medicine to treat your dogs' fleas, unfortunately. I truly hope this eases your frustration and helps your dogs as well. Have a great day!
I have the same problem with my rescue dog. We gave her bravecto weeks ago & she hasn't stopped scratching & her hair is falling out. I've been looking at her diet but could not understand it as she eats so well. I just happened to read the bravecto pamphlet! How long will these side effects last? I feel awful for her. Surely it should be taken off the market...
