Think your children should learn self-defense?

First trial lesson is FREE!!

I have been teaching martial arts as a volunteer instructor for over five years, and am now reaching out to the local community for children and adolescents who are looking for a fun, but challenging, hobby that will help them grow in both dedication, respect, confidence, and environmental awareness. I am reaching out because I love to teach small or private groups so that I can focus their training based on their individual strengths and talents. I have been practicing my martial arts for eight years running, and earned my blackbelt December of 2013. If you are interested in relatively inexpensive private/small group lessons from a student who wants to give back to the community, please give me a message so we can discuss your options further! http://www.care.com/p/takaran7...

I also have experience working with special needs children as a 2-year habilitation provider. I strongly believe that children and adolescents with special needs are a particularly vulnerable community that are often unaware of how and when to defend themselves appropriately. If you feel that you would like your child to learn skills and understanding in self-defense and how to stay safe, please reach out!!

(The instructor is a current senior nursing student at Arizona State University working on her undergraduate degree and potential research on how early-intervention martial arts might benefit young children diagnosed with ADHD through Barrett, the Honors College.)

Self defense is a very useful activity for children to learn. It not only provides children with a way to defend themselves from attackers, but it also provides an outlet for exercise and mental engagement. In addition, it instills a sense of discipline in the child, making him or her more grounded and respectful.
