What is the best way to dust a fan?
My living room fan has a build up of dust on it from the winter. What is the best way to dust it?
I use my vacumn cleaner crevice tools for ceiling fans. After cleaning I spray furniture polish (Pledge) on a rag place the rag over my vacumn tool and lightly wipe only the blades. The
Use a pillow case and insert the fan blade. wipe it down to collect the dust without making a mess. Then use furniture polish and a rag to shine up the blades.
Put a rag or pillow case over a broom.
Use a duster or broom
Either use a duster with an extension..or as I would do it...remove the fan blades twice a year for spring and fall cleaning.
I think the tool I use is called a "Fanny". It is oval in shape and slides onto both sides of the blade to clean at the same time.
There are specialty fan dusters, which are shaped like a very squashed donut, and are, for some reason, almost always blue. They are amazing. Be sure to clean them between uses, though - the bristles catch on to dust well enough to get dirty themselves.
If it's a ceiling fan use a shop cac, then some hot soapy water. Xbox or pedastool fan take outside take one side off and brush with a broom flip over to other side and repeat
I would use a feather duster then I would damp a wash cloth and go over each fan.
An old pillow case.. Start at the middle close to the motor. Hold both sides top & bottom and run it down the blade. All the dust will be inside of the pillow case. Easy to open up and shake outdoors. Finish by damp wipe.
With a damp cloth.
I would use a pillow case to dust each blade, then I would use a wood polish to clean it.
