Beach Cities Tutoring provides private In-home tutoring in all subjects K-12 as well as SAT/ACT Test Prep, Spanish, editing services, homeschooling, and college application consulting in the comfort of your own home.

Beach Cities Tutoring was founded by a Special Education teacher with ten years of classroom experience. Therefore, we serve students with all different needs and learning styles. Many Beach Cities' tutors have teaching credentials and/or master's degrees. We have a variety of tutors with different expertise to best match with your child or teen.
We are available weekdays and weekends as well as holidays/summer breaks. After assessing the student's needs, tutors will determine if supplemental materials are needed and create a curriculum if necessary. Some tutors can provide tutoring in multiple subjects within one session.

Although Beach Cities Tutoring is newly established, its creator has tutored in all subjects for the last twelve years in the South Bay. In addition, she has her master's degree in Special Education, three teaching credentials, and twelve years of teaching experience in the public schools grades K-12.

Ivie is a great tutor. She has been working with my daughter for a few months and I have seen improvements in writing and math. She is very dedicated in her approach to teaching. She is patient and attentive when teaching. I think she is a great tutor and anyone would be very lucky to have her as a tutor.

Ashley has been tutoring my 4th grade daughter for a couple of months. We have seen a great improvement in her overall academics. My daughter was bringing home grades below grade level and now most of her grades are above grade level. Ashley has a sweet way with my daughter. She keeps her focused and motivated. Ashely is prepared to help with classwork and expand on the lessons given from school or is prepared with her own material to fill in any gaps. She has a positive attitude and is very encouraging. Not only has daughter's grades improved but her overall confidence and excitement for school. We are so thankful for the work Ashley has done with her!

Isaac has been tutoring my 13 year old son for several months and has been invaluable to his success. His expertise is in Science and Math but he's just as proficient with subjects like Social Studies and English. In addition to teaching organizational methods and techniques, he clearly explains things in a way a kid can relate to and has a wonderful demeanor. This has been most important for us as my son's focus can wane at times but Isaac has been very patient and has kept him motivated and on track with whatever they're learning. It has also been a plus for our 13 year old to have a male tutor as mentoring is very important at his age and Isaac is a great academic role model. My son's grades are great and he looks forward to his tutoring session every week!

Ivie is great! She is very patient and highly skilled. She knows exactly what to do to get your child learning. She tailors her teaching style to your child's individual needs. She has helped us so much. I highly recommend her. My son was falling behind in second grade. He has mild Autism and is mainstreamed at his home school. The school wasn't giving him the curriculum in a way that he could understand it. Ivie was able to teach him in a way that he could understand the concepts and move on to a higher level. I feel lucky to have found her. She has 10 years experience teaching special needs students. She has taught elementary and currently teaches high school.

My daughter was struggling with pre-Algebra and was progressively falling behind. In less than a month, we have seen a huge difference in not only her grade but her confidence. Both Ivie and Mike are dependable, professional and my daughter loves them both.
I would recommend Beach Cities Tutoring to anyone looking to help improve their child's educational experience.

My 15 year old son just finished his third session with Ivie and he is enjoying working with her. I found her via website and she responded almost immediately to my inquiry and within a day or two we had a session scheduled. My son was somewhat reluctant to start with a tutor during his summer break, but his Spanish teacher recommended that he work on a few elements before next year, so he really had no choice. Ivie read his teacher's comments on his last grading report and tailored a program and materials to meet his needs.
It has been a very positive experience, he has found Ivie engaging, thorough and she makes it interesting for him. I think he has learned a lot in a very few weeks. All in all a very good fit! He says his skills are improving each week, and shockingly enough, he is happy he agreed to take time away from his valuable surfing this summer to do these sessions. She also has given him homework to carry through to the next week so he can get even more practice. Schedule depending, we will probably have her meet with him 2x week in the last month of summer to give him a real push before starting Spanish 2 as a sophomore. Highly recommend! I will update again after he starts Spanish 2 to record his progress.

Ivie matched my son up with Alex, the best tutor possible for my son. My son was failing Geometry when Alex started tutoring him and after 3 weeks of some intense work, he got a B on his final. I recommend Ivie and her team with the utmost of confidence.

Ivie has been a great tutor for my son in Middle School for all subjects including English, Spanish and Math. We have seen improvements in his grades in a very short period of time! I love that she creates a list that my son needs to work on after each session so that he knows where to focus his time and energy. She came highly recommended and I was extremely impressed with her credentials. She also has experience teaching in the area which is a huge plus because she understands how the schools are teaching firsthand. She is extremely nice and my son looks forward to working with her each and every week!
